Recently, I read an interesting book about Virtual Reality (VR) by Professor Jeremy Bailenson, a top expert in this field. When I heard that a new VR game arcade opened in our area, I got excited and decided to visit.
The arcade was in downtown Hamamatsu, near the station. It was on the third floor of a normal building – VR centers don’t need much space. The ticket cost 1800 yen, which let me try all the VR machines for 90 minutes.
After my visit, two things became clear to me:
First, real life is much more complicated and beautiful than VR. Right now, VR isn’t so perfect that people will forget about the real world. In fact, the best moment in VR is when you take off your headset. You feel the wind, smell the air, and appreciate how amazing reality is.
Second, VR has a big problem right now: it’s lonely. When you wear a VR headset, you’re alone. You can’t share your experience with friends at the same time. But this will change! Professor Bailenson believes VR will become truly exciting when people can talk and interact together in the same virtual space.
Imagine being able to travel anywhere with your friends – even to different times or places – just by using VR! I’m looking forward to seeing how this technology develops.
My VR arcade visit was wonderful. I learned something new and got to connect my book knowledge with a real experience.
Good luck with your English studies!
